Up to three meters tall shrub Oval, smooth, light green leaves with a whole leaf border (20 cm long). The opposite leaf arrangement, or paired leaves, have a tendency to droop. Four obovate lobes are grouped in a cross-like arrangement on the small, tubular blooms.

Hemoptysis, dysmenorrhea, hemoptysis, dysentery, and catarrhal bronchitis are all treated with roots and flowers. Diarrhea is treated with leaves.
