One species of flowering plant in the Rubiaceae family is called Ixora coccinea. It is a widespread blooming shrub native to Southern India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. It is now one of the most widely used flowering shrubs in gardens and landscapes in South Florida. It is Suriname's national flower.
